I'm thinking about getting a bunch of these for my Asus K8N-DL mobos. These are made for video cards that sit over chipsets.

Interesting.
Not worth the money to me though. My stock chipset fans seem to do fine. I just have to be careful when I seat the VC not to push it in so far that it hits the fan. That base looks to be about as tall as the stock chipset fan. As far as noise, I can't hear the chipset fan outside of the case with it closed anyways.
Now if the fans start dying on my stock units then I'd probably buy these. _________________ Socially distancing since 1970. |

I'm trying for quieter boxes. The little whiny chipset fans are pretty annoying. _________________

Hmm, each of my boxes alone is damn near silent. Put all four in the same room running and there's no way I can pick out the chipset fan. _________________ Socially distancing since 1970. |

Must be all the 120mm case fans I've installed. _________________

That's pretty much all I use in my systems. The only ones smaller are the 92mm's on the XP-90's and XP-90C's. Even my PSU's only use a 120mm.
All of the cases use one low speed 120mm front intake and another rear exhaust. The two machines with Ninja's have low speed 120's on the HS's.
All four machines combined are still quieter than any one of my old Antec cases with 80mm's.
Now if I could only quiet down the A/C unit I have running to keep the room cool. _________________ Socially distancing since 1970. |

Well, they're not loud, loud. I can deal with the 120's "whoosh!", but I can't stand the whine from little fans. _________________

Have I mentioned I've worked around jet engines for 18 years? That's probably why I can't hear any high frequency noise. _________________ Socially distancing since 1970. |

You don't strap your F15's down testing for blowouts do you? _________________

It's not really so much a strap down as it is a hold back using the arresting hook. I've been both in the seat at the controls and on the ground for many a blowout and engine stall. The stalls are the scariest, especially at night.
Afterburner blowouts are a lot easier to troubleshoot and fix. Stalls on the ground can be a real bear to track down and fix. Luckily they are pretty rare. _________________ Socially distancing since 1970. |

Speaking of aircraft maintainance, I find it hilarious that the Iran government blame the US for their airline issues. They feel that the US sanctions against them prevents them from buying replacement parts.
Hello? They are flying mostly Russian planes. The Russians are so cash strapped, they'lll happily sell anything including their kitchen sink.
Could it be that their internal QA and airline mechanics suck? _________________

Yeah, sanctions are so effective they managed to get the equipment to enrich uranium. But yet, they can't keep their aircraft flying? Sounds like they need to realign their priorities, just like their butt-buddies in North Korea. _________________ Socially distancing since 1970. |

Even if they don't build a bomb, they'll have plenty of nuclear waste to cause trouble with. _________________

Well Goobee, looks like I'll be trying out your idea on the Thermalright chipset cooler. Found out why one of my machines has been acting sluggish. The fan on the chipset died.
I'm also going to get one of these and do this to it:
