I've got an Athlon XP-M 2500.  It was good for a display model computer, then I added 512MB of RAM and now it's excellent.  It's crunching 24/7 too. It's mainly my TDY computer. It came in handy last spring and summer with all of the TDY's to Las Vegas, OKC and Panama City, Fla. Not to mention the trips to KC and home.  It has taken a lickin' and kept on tickin'.

A TDY is a temporary duty assignment. Kind of like a business trip only not as predictable. I've gone to work only to have to turn around and go home to pack. Other times they've called me out of a sound sleep to hurry up and pack. They range from 36 hours to 6.6 months long. They can be to anywhere from 100 miles away to the other side of the globe. Sometimes they're to repair a broken aircraft, sometimes they're to fight a war, other times they're just to get the aircraft out of the way of a hurricane. You just don't know until they make the call to send someone and they decide who they want to go.

Some of them are more fun than work.  Others are a lot more work than fun.  I'm about 50/50 on the fun ones and the terrible ones.

Outta my hands. From now until Sept. I'm at the mercy of the 4th AMXS. Any hurricanes pop up, my ass will be going. Them's the breaks when you're a single guy with no dependents in my rank. They'd rather send a fully qualified guy like me with no ties then a guy that has let all of his qualifications run out and has a wife and/or kids to worry about.
