The CA government has shut things down again in light of the recent uptick in Covid-19 infections. Apparently they are blaming it on restaurants, bars, bowling alleys, etc, but not all the assholes who rioted, protested and looted during the past month. Yep, it's still OK to gather to protest, they won't stop that but don't let them catch you operating a little mom and pop restaurant. _________________

It was inevitable. People are stupid. Way too many of them refuse to exercise good judgment and protect themselves and those they come in contact with. I still see people walking around in Walmart and other stores with their masks hanging down around their necks (gotta have one on to get into the store).
As long as you have morons like that running around, it doesn't matter what you open, close or rules you put in place. They are bound and determined to do whatever they want and circumvent the rules as much as they can get away with and then complain loudly when they get caught that their rights are being infringed upon. And until they all die off, or get sick enough to finally learn their lesson, this will never go away. _________________ Socially distancing since 1970. |

During a pandemic - mass rally protestors, mask refuseniks, beach huggers - they're all versions of the same problem: individual exceptionalism, encouraged by our selfish leaders. It's why we're doomed in the end.
Here in the UK, we're not dissimilar to the US. Now local lockdowns at the same time the govt is trying to open up everything on an arbitrary timetable that was set months ago and pays little heed to the data. Lots of piss poor planning and comms. Clowns.
But if we all behaved, we'd beat this thing and embarrass our politicians. Shame humans collectively aren't like that. |

I think learning to live with Covid-19 is more realistic than trying to hide from it. For certain, you can't control what your neighbor does. If he or she wants to walk around and think they are invulnerable, there's nothing you can do about it. The government can threaten all they want, there are some who are just hard-headed and will refuse to conform.
The government should be working to prepare the health system in preparation for such events. CA is the perfect example of stupid government. When Arnold Schwarzenegger was Governor, his administration put together a plan to handle a pandemic should one arise. This was over 10 years ago, way before anyone thought Corona was anything but a beer. All kinds of equipment, including ventilators, were purchased to hold in reserves. Jerry Brown's regime decided it was too expensive to maintain such non-necessities and cancelled the program. All those medical supplies would have come in real handy about now.
For the government to pick and chose who to blame is ridiculous. Everyone who failed (or continues to) to maintain precautions are to blame. Those who refuse to wear masks when indoors/outdoors with others or those who refuse to practice safe hygiene by washing their hands.
For me it’s like car safety. Although I know that I am driving safely, I also take precautions by wearing a seat belt and watching out for unsafe drivers. _________________

The news media is too busy blaming anything and everything on Trump. Sure, he's definitely played a big part in the problem.
But, that ignores the fact that the programs were gutted and left to languish by a Democratic president and Democratic majority in Congress that were more concerned with shoving a socialist agenda in general and a universal health care law in particular through while they held the advantage. _________________ Socially distancing since 1970. |

Yeah, the Dems have nothing on their minds except their agenda which includes bashing Trump when and where ever possible. It doesn't help that the idiot President paints a target on himself every time he posts a tweet.

We've got a whole lotta stupid up here.
Went to VT to get my tractor tires filled with Rimguard (beet juice) for extra weight when using my new front pallet forks. Stopped at the supermarket over there for a few things and everyone in the store was wearing masks. And that was without someone sitting at the front doors making sure they were wearing them coming in.
Stopped by Wally World back here in NY to get the things I couldn't find in the supermarket and the people walking around inside the store without masks outnumbered the people with their masks still on 2-1 at least. And that was with someone sitting at the front doors making sure everyone was wearing one when they came in.
Such a huge disparity in willingness to do what's right vs what's "comfortable" or making a "statement" in-between two places 40 miles apart. Masks are required in public in both states. _________________ Socially distancing since 1970. |

Although we have people crying about it, stores here have posted "no mask, no entry" signs. It's going to take a while, how long no one knows for it to run its course but at some point, covid will die down. All you can do in the meanwhile is take precautions to safeguard your health and hope others do as well. _________________

I really had to bite my tongue in Wally World. They have the signs for the traffic flow through the aisles to keep people from having to pass each other closely. Without fail, the assholes without masks were the ones going the wrong way down the aisles. Several of them had that smug "I'll do whatever the fuck I want" look on their face when you looked up surprised that someone was coming the other way. At least one guy's wife looked at me with that "I'm so sorry" as he dragged the front of the cart the wrong way down the aisle.
And they wonder why there are more and more incidents of people fighting and getting thrown out of stores. _________________ Socially distancing since 1970. |

It's like clockwork, you can be the only person in the aisle looking at something and someone will come over and want to be in the same section at the same time. It's like people can't wait even a minute for you to finish. _________________
