I watched a program where they restored an old Lincoln Continental. (I think it was a '65 or '67 with suicide doors) So they tore it down and rebuilt everything from the chassis on up. Then much to my dismay, they slammed it. Why do these car shows have to slam everything. Whether it's a sports cars or a milk truck, they slam them. It makes no sense.
I don't have a problem with lowering cars a few inches to improve handling but slamming is an entirely different thing. I just don't get the point of ruining classic cars in this manner. _________________

I thought that crap went out of style 10 years ago? I thought Pro Touring (some lowering, aftermarket performance suspension, wider than stock wheels and tire...but not the fat drag racing slicks, and modern fuel-injected engines/6-speed electronic automatic transmissions) was the current craze?

That pro touring stance I like. It looks good and emphasizes performance.
The builds these people do on TV shows, I think some of them are out of touch with what people really want. I watched a few shows during the past few months and almost all of them, they will bag them so that they can be slammed. There was this show where they took an old milk truck, bagged it and thought it looked cool an inch off the ground. _________________

Yeah, that's ridiculously low. You can't even drive something like that around here as the frost heaves and potholes are 2" or more.
Heck, I don't know if you remember my driveway in Tucson, but the entry from the street to the sidewalk was so steep my G8 scraped the air dam if you hit it wrong. And that was at stock height.
I've always been more about functionality/performance over looks anyways. If you can get both, even better. But, don't screw up the functionality just because it "looks cool" to certain people. _________________ Socially distancing since 1970. |

While chopped tops have been around for a long time, I've always thought that it's a ridiculous mod. Hack off a foot to lower the roof, then drop the seat to the floor.

You know how tall I am. Ain't no way I'm going to ask for LESS headroom. And especially not on a truck. _________________ Socially distancing since 1970. |

I did some googling, there appears to be an entire sub culture with chopping tops off of cars and truck. I'm guessing most of the more extreme mods are for show cars only because I can't see anyone wanting to drive something that you can barely see out of.
It's their money, they can spend it however they want I guess. _________________

Funniest thing I saw before was a video of a guy bouncing his car and the electrical system caught on fire. _________________
