This has me excited, 8 cores/16 threads. After the Bulldozer fiasco, I'm sure AMD will be careful to not release another 3-legged horse. They can't survive another underwhelming performing processor like Bulldozer.
I'm looking to replace my aging i7-3930K, this should do the trick I hope. Here's details:
http://www.pcworld.com/article/3077459/hardware/let-the-cpu-battles-begin-amd-shows-off-a-working-8-core-zen-processor.html
AMD needs to get back into the game. Intel is back to their old tricks, releasing marginally better next generation processors and price gouging consumers again. _________________

Just have to wait for the future tests...
I'm ready to go AMD again but only if the ratio pref/pricing is good.
I'll also look at the power consumption...
Time will tell. _________________ Have fun and sport ! |

With smaller dies, it should be fairly efficient. I've seen postings indicating 95 watts TDP for the engineering samples being tested. I imagine by the time they are into production, they could very well draw a bit less.
I don't expect Zen to challenge top tier extreme Intel processors but if it competes well just below, we may see some price wars. _________________

Seems very interesting !
First results are indead leading to a good new AMD processor. If price is OK I'm ready to test in a new machine : octo-core, 16 threads, 3.5GHz minimum... I'll follow this with attention. _________________ Have fun and sport ! |

Yeah, I've been waiting patiently for Zen release. If performance is close to i7 processors, AMD will have a winner so long as they don't go nuts on pricing.
Intel most likely have next generation processors ready and are just holding back releasing them There isn't any need to due to the lack of competition. _________________

My local Fry's store started advertising today. Pricing is right on target, a 1700X is in my future. I will not be an early adopter. We'll let the bugs get worked out and pick one up maybe around June.

I'll do the same... Just waiting for more tests to come out but this one seems already very attractive !

From the reviews I've read so far, performance is as I expected. Almost as good as Intel but just slightly lagging. Price versus performance is where it beats Intel and that is where the big victory is. You will have to plunk down big money for Xeon to get 8/16 cores/threads.
The folks who are disappointed with Ryzen performance are the ones with unrealistic expectations. They are bitching about single thread performance. If that's what important to them, then all they need is an unlocked quad core i5. _________________

Why is it every time I want to upgrade, ram prices shoot up?
I looked at what 32gbs of ram will cost and I was like WTF??!! _________________

Something about DDR4, the prices never was really that low. Even before the as of late price hikes, DDR3 was a lot cheaper. _________________
