Proof that some of PPS is double checking, but also that we're back in top5000 territory.

I just found this one - which was already listed well inside the top5000 as follows:

4483 65*2^354875+1 106830 g381 2005
4399 995*2^357089+1 107498 p161 2008

And now an actual new one!

2296 887*2^450283+1 135552 L654 2008

More waiting to be found!

If you have 64bit OS, this is a real advantage for sieving!

I am such a geek. Only one of my systems has a 64bit OS. Looked at MS virtual PC you can not run a 64bit OS. VMWare will do it though. Currently playing with a 64bit ubuntu vm. Now to get it to see both processors. It does not look to be as fast as my native 64bit system but is better then the 32bit windows it is running under.

Of course the Ubuntu install only works with 1 core. The VM only gives it access to one. DUH. Played around with trying to get 2 instances going but the network started to freak out with the same name and mac address and trying to get multiple IPs. Tried a static IP but still was not working.

The 64 bit client took my run times down from 27min to about 16. Now if only I could figure out a way to install this on another 10 machines and not have the VM machine as a window that will be opened and messed with Razz

If you're running windows, and can survive with dual-boot, try wubi (windows installer for a dual-boot, ntfs-root ubuntu install - will do 64bit by default if your h/w can do it).
Far better than booting the live-cd image and running in there, as it will survive reboots, and boinc can get upset about duplicate machine names sometimes.
Non starter if you need to keep windows running for other reasons, but it works great for me on some of my machines - the rest are native linux anyway, 64bit where appropriate.

Final results after the Winter Solstice challenge for each of us and the team:
Code:

Pos    User                      Score          Points    TotalPoints   TotalPosition
59     Sloth                       73404.84       -             75                28
129    Vato                       22859.58       -               2              113

26     Team-Goobee.org    96264.43      10          136.5             21

That's it for 2008 - I think we did well for only 2 of us playing :-) but it'll be much harder from now on - these challenges are attracting some serious firepower.
